Puerto Morelos, Mexico — June, 2008

Lauren, our god daughter, graduated from high school this year, so we all planned a beach trip to Mexico. She and her brother invited friends to join us. So we have Brandy, Lauren, Bryan, Kathy, Ben, Stephen, and James. Cathy B. is also with us, but she is taking the photo.

We lucked into a wonderful Villa right on the beach.Casa Mendoza is a three story, five bedroom, Mexican style home located on one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches imaginable. Here is Bryan bringing us beers out to our own private floating dock!!!

Casa Mendoza came with a pool.....

...and also a roof top deck complete with a lounging bed... life could not get any better!

It even came with its own dog named "Flaca"

But the best thing it came with was beautiful sunsets over the ocean!!!

We took a short drive to the Mayan ruins of Cobá, which is one of the most important archaeological sites in the area. Built between two lakes during the Classic Period (600-900 A.D.), the main pyramid, Nohoch Mul meaning 'large hill', is 138 feet tall and is the highest in the Yucatan peninsula. That's Kathy in the light blue shirt at the very top-left of the picture. Wow she was high up there and very scared!!

We also took a day trip to visit Playa del Carmen and Cozemel

We did a little reading...

...A little walking on the beach...

...a little snorkeling...

...and some just sitting around.

We did a lot of eating...some in...and some out.

Some good... and some, well, interesting!
