Melbourne, Australia – May, 1993

A typical view along the Great Ocean Highway, the most scenic drive we've ever taken. Actually, "highway" is a kind name for it. It's really a two-lane road on the edge of a cliff (it's visible as a white line in the photo). We took the drive on our second day in the country. I was driving a rental car with the steering wheel on the wrong side and trying to remember to also stay on the wrong side of this little curvy road without falling off into the ocean. Kathy probably saw more of the scenery than I did.

I stop to take a rest in Werribee Park, just outside of Melbourne.

The short rock wall is called a Ha Ha, believe it or not. The Aussies seem to be able to come up with fanciful names for things.

Kathy celebrates her mumble'th birthday in the penthouse apartment where we stayed in downtown Melbourne.

Among the neat tree ferns in the Blue Dandenong mountains. We took the rental car (the ultimate off-road vehicle) on a long tour of the back country, got lost and had a great time.

One of the local inhabitants at the Healesville Sanctuary, an open-air wildlife preserve north of Melbourne.
